DNA

The truth is that we gave up reality for the reflection of perceived beauty. But the truth doesn't matter. Growing old, dying young, none of it really matters. Morality is a transparency on one side of silvered glass. It's empty of reason, depth or spirituality.

Reason, Depth, Spirituality, they all exist. But not connected to beauty. Sure, you can cut a channel for them to flow through if they cut across the time and space that you employ but you will never direct them, not truly. Struggle to understand them the length of your life, spending time in an after-image of the ineffable. The closest thing to honesty, is that you will be directed by them.

But honesty isn't truth, while truth is most certainly honest. Beauty does not exist, only genetic diversity which is interpreted in an infinite array.

"Let me be honest with you," someone says. How many times have all of us heard that? Knowing full well that what the person intended to say, is...

"Here, let me share my opinion with you, with the disclaimer that this opinion is based in my current brain chemistry, the "sub" mood I awoke in this morning, and the remaining bits of undigested food in my GI track that is making the muscles in my lower back tighten in vague discomfort."

What was it they use to say?

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." This is more closely anachronous to the truth. But in the end it's all just DNA trying to reproduce itself. Maybe that's what made it interesting.

I mean, when a creature was refined of physical feature in such a manner as to create synaptic reactions that produce the all wonderful endorphins, wewere all a little in awe. Natures "little helper" made us so.

This theory is a kin to that of baby animals and adult animals.

Of course babies were cute to us, they had to be. If they weren't we never would have been able to stand their un-ending demands and pre-occupations with getting their own ways: oblivious to the needs or exhaustion level of their adult guardians. The cute factor, whether in child or adult has a face that others crave and there will almost always be someone around to dive face first in the shit to keep you from soiling the hem of your clothing.

This is, just the way it is. And those who tried to change it were pissing in the wind of a million plus years of evolution. This is the way DNA protects itself but why? Our science took us to the stars and while we can document these things as true we can not document why.

Perhaps this is the only true freedom on our crowded, disease-ridden planet.

...but you won't hear that, even though that is the truth. You will here only their honesty. But the truth is simple. Reason is knowledge that germinates in truth. Depth is the ability to see with intuition and wisdom. Spirituality is the tree which shelters, nourishes and frees the mind from a flat piece of silvered glass, it's roots, you guessed it; depth and wisdom.

Cut the tree down and you will have something but it will not be a spirit, the spirit is only alive while it's roots of depth and wisdom are allowed to probe the depths of creation that surrounded us all: In the animals that have vanished forever and the painful cries of those who remain. It is not the face of a single man or woman, but of all creation that defines the cosmos.

And you?

And I?

We are only impulses of light... perhaps, zeros and ones in a seemingly infinite sequence in a cold place devoid of light. Forget beauty, for if one thing is beautiful then all things are... gradations of light on a spectral scale, terrifying and brilliant. Lucid dreaming.

Then again...

"Open your eyes love, it's time to wake up."
